Teeth grinding FAQ
Cause of bruxism
There are many potential reasons for teeth grinding.
The most widespread assumption is the connection with stress or depression.
However, there are also indications of an incorrect bite, which can also lead to bruxism.
Due to the enormous strain, the tooth surface is worn down more than normal. Teeth break, fillings fall out, crowns crack. It is often not the chewing surfaces or incisal edges that are affected, but also the necks of the teeth.
If the substance can withstand this load, the pressure is transferred further into the temporomandibular joint. In extreme cases, permanent structural changes to the bone, cartilage and ligaments can occur.
Severe pain can occur in the muscles and teeth, which can extend to severe facial pain.
What can you do about teeth grinding?
The crunch splint is an initial therapy. It protects the teeth and the joint in the first instance.
Accompanying physiotherapy with relaxation exercises can help.
How much does the splint cost?
From examination to delivery (up to 2 appointments):699CHF
Aims of the dental splint
A dental splint against grinding prevents the teeth from touching. The splint also serves as a kind of buffer between the upper and lower jaw. This protects the teeth as long as the cause of the teeth grinding has not yet been found.
