If the teeth are not covered with gum, impacted or displaced, the extraction can be very simple. The costs in such simple cases start at around CHF 150 per tooth.
In the case of completely covered or partially covered teeth, slightly more work is required, with costs starting at CHF 300 per tooth.
If teeth are impacted (completely encased in bone) and displaced at the same time, considerable expense is to be expected. The costs for very complex extractions are usually from 500CHF per tooth. For operations under anesthesia, costs for the anesthesia team are charged separately
Cost savings – Several wisdom teeth are usually removed at the same time. In such cases, the costs are lower. E.g. removing all four wisdom teeth from an apprentice or student.

Also called: third molar. The term comes from the “old” age at which they erupt. Normally, everyone has four wisdom teeth, which are already in place before birth. However, some people do not have all four or even no wisdom teeth at all.

The longer the procedure takes, the more likely complications such as swelling and pain are to be expected.

The teeth do not necessarily have to be removed. However, they often have no space in the jaw to get through. Removal is recommended if there is a lack of space, a risk of inflammation or caries.
If the removal of wisdom teeth is recommended at a young age, please do not wait too long. Like a tree, wisdom teeth “take root” more firmly in the bone over time and make the procedure more difficult.
The dentist can determine how many wisdom teeth you have and whether they have room to erupt using an overview x-ray (panoramic slices OPT, PSA).
Ideally, panoramic slices (OPG, OPT, PSA) are taken in order to plan the treatment.
After wisdom tooth surgery, most anesthetics continue to have an effect for some time. During this time, you should not eat anything or drink anything hot. You can drink cold drinks in small sips. Once the effect of the anaesthetic has worn off, you can drink warm drinks and eat soft foods again. Pureed and lukewarm soups are just as suitable as soft-boiled vegetables, meat and fish or “baby food”.
Food should not be hard, hot or spicy. This irritates the wound and can lead to inflammation, pain and bleeding. After eating, you should brush your teeth carefully and use a mouthwash. As soon as the wound has healed and the stitches have been removed, you can eat whatever you like again.
Wisdom tooth surgery is used to remove wisdom teeth with as little pain as possible. If a wisdom tooth has completely erupted, it can be extracted like any other tooth.
