Teeth and occlusion (from Latin occludere 'to close') have a very great influence on the posture of the human body.
The perception of balance and posture is controlled not only in the ear, but also by the eyes (looking at the horizon) and teeth (occlusion).
A distinction is made between an ascending and a descending system.
In the ascending syndrome, the root cause is from foot to hip and causes the misalignment(trying to compensate for it) in the back neck and jaw joints.
In the descending syndrome, this is reversed: due to the misalignment of the temporomandibular joints and/or occlusion, the back and the hip get into an asymmetrical position.
Only interdisciplinary treatment can lead to success.
